Are you one of those that has no idea what to do when it comes to putting pictures on paper, creatively? Are you pretty clueless how to get started in scrap-booking? That's okay, so was I, in fact, we all were at some point in life. But as you have probably heard before, you have to start somewhere.

So to begin you need to know the basics of scrap-booking. To get started you will want to have a few things.

1. Paper, you can pick this up anywhere. Walmart has packages of plain colored pages that are pretty cheap. Your local craft store will have a lot, most of which are decorative.

2. Scissors, I suggest you buy a package of 10-15 decorative scissors. You can get these for around $20-25. If you can't afford that then try to buy at least 1-2 scissors, which are about $3-5 a piece.

3. Basic decor, you don't need much for decorations if you can't afford it because you can use a lot of things that are already lying around the house. If you can afford it I would suggest getting a few different colors of silk, some string, stickers, markers, smaller pieces of paper to frame your pictures, pipe cleaners, eyes, and then a few stencils including letters. You do not need all of this so choose some things you think you are more likely to use.

Once you have got your stuff gathered together you need to pick out the pictures you would like to showcase on some of the scrapbook pages. Then you will want to find or think of some ideas for scrap-booking these pictures.

For instance you could take a picture of you child smiling, frame it with piece of paper and then put a yellow smiley face in the corner of it. That one is pretty basic, but you can also take one of her doing a ballet solo, frame it with a purple paper and then cover the page in pink silk, doilies, and ballet slippers.
